Who we are. What we do.
For nearly twenty years we’ve been designing and building interfaces for applications of all kinds. From the first generation of websites to the latest in wearables, we’ve had experience in creating and developing across the technology spectrum.
When we set out to develop our new user interface for the RTI home automation platform we decided to take a step back and rethink how clients interact with the tools we give them. There are some classic quandaries in home automation design: choose a zone first? choose an activity first? how to change sources? Our first generation of designs are predicated on the activity-first model. But we also wanted to simplify the ease of movement between zones. And of course, sources in zones.
Our goal is to deliver cutting edge designs to help integrators create best-in-class solutions for their clients on the RTI platform. One of the key benefits to RTI is the ability to control the interface. We want to help deliver designs and workflow to ensure that benefit is fully realized and that your clients have the ultimate in design and usability.
Design Choices. Tablets win!
With our history designing and developing interfaces one of the key factors is always maximizing the design to create the best possible experience for our users. Giving them the best interface possible and helping them get the most out of it. Based on that experience we’ve made a strategic commitment to a landscape-only experience for tablets. With our execution of this strategy with RTI specifically over the last few years, we believe the benefits of this strategy far outweigh any disadvantages.
Which isn’t to say you can’t take one of our templates and modify for portrait but we do believe a single layout strategy holds significant benefits for designers and installers as well as clients.
We’re also focused primarily on development for tablet-based interfaces. We believe the area where we can have the biggest impact in UI development for home automation is the tablet space. We do realize there are lots of installs that still have remotes and that people also are committed to their iPhones. We’ve also received lots of feedback that this is important to integrators. So we’ve expanded our design and development model to include the T2x and T3x remotes as well as developing for iPhone 5+. We’ll continue to updated our designs for the latest remotes and mobile devices RTI supports.
And at the end of the day, our graphics can be used on any device you see fit. We believe that with our new set of deliverables, integrators will have everything they need to build out their projects on any platform RTI supports.
